Most Frequently Asked Questions
- Where and when do the teams play? That’s covered on the DYAA web site in the “Team Schedules” tab (www.dyaasoccer.org)
- When will I hear from my coach? Your coach will contact you 1 or 2 weeks before the start of the season. You will have a team meeting where you will meet the team and receive the rules, schedules, uniforms, etc.
- Can my child be placed on a specific team (with a requested coach or player)? This is not possible for several reasons. First, there are over 1600 players in DYAA. Decades ago, the Board decided that if we honored special requests for one person/family then we would need to do so for anyone who asked. With a league our size, that would obviously be impossible. Second, when DYAA was in its infancy, we used to honor special requests and we could do so because the program was very small. We quickly learned that it did not work out very well because many folks made special requests (to be on specific teams) and became impossible to balance out the teams. We are committed to having the teams balanced by age and playing experience in order to keep the league both fair and competitive.
- Is DYAA run by Delaware Parks and Rec/YMCA? No. DYAA is a private, non-profit association that’s been running both the recreational and select/club soccer programs in Delaware for nearly 40 years. DYAA has enjoyed a wonderful working relationship with both the City and the YMCA as, together, we work to serve families and children in our community.
